Armadale Active Sporting and Community Hubs Master Plans
Client: City of Armadale
In May 2012, the City of Armadale engaged TPG (along with CCS Strategic) to undertake community engagement, planning and design analysis to prepare a number of active sporting and community hub master plans across four sites.
In March of this year TPG (along with CCS Strategic) were appointed to prepare a further two active sporting and community hub master plans for Bob Blackburn Reserve and Gwynne Park. This master planning project promotes active parks and reserves as 'community hubs', where the community can come together to have many of their sporting, recreational and community needs met.
Community and stakeholder engagement formed an integral part of the master planning project. This took place before and after the preparation of draft master plan design concepts. This staged approach enabled consultation and engagement activities and outcomes to constructively inform and shape the preparation of each of the master plans. Key tools that were used included user group and resident workshops, technical team workshops, Council workshops, surveys, on-line information and feedback, hard copy displays, presentation and feedback sessions and signs on site to communicate the project.
The master planning for Bob Blackburn Reserve and Gwynne Park will involve a higher level of engagement with the City of Armadale community and key stakeholders than the former master plans based on the regional significance of the facilities contained within each (Armadale Arena and Armadale Aquatic Centre). Our recent appointment to prepare these master plans in addition to the former four master plans demonstrates the City's satisfaction with our past performance and our depth of experience and competency in community engagement and stakeholder management.
